New Outline Planning Application – July 2024
Thank you to all those who have contributed their feedback on the New Outline Planning Application. This has now been submitted to the Council (London Borough of Barking & Dagenham).
This application will evolve and refresh the existing masterplan – which includes elements which are now over 16 years old – to make sure it is flexible and sustainable, whilst delivering more vitally needed homes for the Borough.

Station Quarter – April 2024
At the end of last year, BRL hosted multiple engagement events focusing on Station Quarter. A planning application has been submitted to the Council.
Situated in the heart of Barking Riverside, Station Quarter will be located within the District Centre, which contains the station, the river bus services, new public spaces, and will in time include the majority of the retail and commercial spaces across the neighbourhood.
Residents, local organisations and business owners, as well as the wider community, were invited to shape the emerging plans. Following the engagement sessions, the “mini masterplan” for this area was further developed in detail, utilising the feedback from the community before a planning application was submitted to the Council.

The Circus & Boulevard – April 2024
The Circus & Boulevard is a new open space for the Northgate Neighbourhood which connects the District Centre with the eastern end of Barking Riverside. A planning application has been submitted to the Council.
This exciting part of Barking Riverside is set to deliver play areas and sports facilities, as well as spaces to socialise, relax and hold events.
In Autumn 2023, residents were polled via Thames Talk, where ideas where shared for the Circus & Boulevard. In March 2024, BRL shared the updated plans with you over two engagement sessions. An application has since been submitted to the Council.

Who are BRL?
Barking Riverside Limited, known locally as BRL, are a joint venture between L&Q and the Mayor of London. We are the company behind the delivery of the new homes and facilities at Barking Riverside. We are responsible for the overall design, planning and placemaking, leading the major infrastructure projects and working with housebuilders who are building homes here.
